Finals are over and I'm going home. . .

. . .well first to Chicago with Mom to see Wicked.

Then I'm going home. . .

. . .and then to Cadillac to see friends and Mike's wedding open house.

Then I'm going home again. . .

. . .and then we're heading to Florida, Orlando and Tallahassee.

And then I'm going. . .

                                                             . . .back to school.

It will be a fun, busy break.

I had this dream last night, it took me a bit to get back to sleep after having it. Now I'm facing another night and the lingering effects are such that I am going to read lengthy passages in the Bible and sleep with the lights on, again:

Why is it I must have nightmares when I most want to sleep? Maybe writing it out will get it out of my head so I can sleep, though most of the dream, save for the last part, is quickly fading. I think I’ve had this dream before, I hate it. There is a little boy, I seem to alternate between being that boy and observing him. He is a very gentle, likeable child, he gets just about perfect grades; though why this is significant in 1rst or 2nd grade is puzzling. Sometimes his parents refer to his little brother in hushed tones; he’s never met his brother and thinks he doesn’t exist. He continues to live a good life and he notices in school another boy who is kind and gentle, but he also seems timid and a bit nervous, his grades aren’t good. For some reason, the first little boy goes to the timid little boy’s house to compare grades. The timid little boy is awed that it is possible to get good grades and seems to consider this something he wants, then his mother says “remember Oval Sophie,” this immediately dampens the timid boy’s mood and he says “poor Oval Sophie.” The other boy gathers that this is a mysterious little sister, he sees the parallels to the mysterious little brother his parents refer to and looks around the house for the sister. He sees her lying on the bed near the end, asleep. She looks rather like a cherub; her face is somewhat oval with large cheeks. She wakes up and sees him and seems to be a nice child, then she keeps attempting to roll off the bed onto him, knocking him to the floor. This is where I cease being a silent watcher and take the boy’s place. Sophie seems agitated by my presence, she keeps coming at me in a vaguely threatening manner, I keep tickling her and feeling the something is very wrong. Then she changes, her eyes become dark and evil, her teeth are pointed and the transformation is akin to that of Bilbo in the Fellowship of the Ring when he sees the ring again in Rivendell. Her strength and leaping ability are also demonically strong. I can see she intends to kill me, and I try to get out of the house, fighting her off the entire way. I make it to the garage and she gets ahold of my foot, I manage to shake her off and get out into the sun, she hisses threateningly and looks furious at being foiled but will not follow me beyond the confines of the house. Then I woke up. Through out the fight, I was having the revelation that nature is a balance, at least in this dreamworld. Whenever an unnaturally good child is born, such as the two boys, nature makes up for it with an unnaturally evil child, I had flashbacks during the fight to a cage with demonic little boy in it, presumably the little brother of the first boy. It is a very odd dream, and the last images of that demonic girl wouldn’t let me sleep for fear that I would see her again. The fear and image has faded with the writing, but I think I will finish the night with the light on.
